eHarmony goes Gay - Gee, What a Surprise!

Watching eHarmony cave to the pressure from some gay guy who was crying about not being aloud to use eHarmony was pathetic.  eHarmony didn’t put up a fight, and they agreed to start a new site for gays and lesbians.  I have to say I’m not surprised.  If you look at what other Christian dating watchdog sites have been saying about eHarmony and its founder, Neil Clark Warren, the writing has been on the wall for a long time.  Warren has been making pro-gay comments for years, so this development does not come as a surprise to those of us who have been watching them.  It is sad, though, when you consider that eHarmony got its start through the Christian community, and without that support it might not have very made it in the first place.  Warren got his seminary degree at Princeton, a liberal seminary and he describes himself as a humanist.  It’s sad to see this happen, but it just goes to show you that when someone calls themself a “Christian” it doesn’t really mean much anymore.

“By their fruit you will recognize them. Do people pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles? Likewise every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. 18A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. Thus, by their fruit you will recognize them.  Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and in your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?’ Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’” — Matthew 7:16-23

Not All Christian Dating sites are What They Seem - Part 1

According to the Christian Dating WatchDog, a number of “Christian” dating sites are owned by secular companies and are not Christian at all. In fact, some of these companies are into things that Christians do not, and should not, support. The most heinous example of this is BigChurch.com, which apparently is owned by the same company which operates several x-rated dating sites such as AdultFriendFinder.com and GayFriendfinder and several others. What really gets me riled up is that they make BigChurch.com appear as if it is run by sincere Christians, including a searchable Bible and commentary on the site. I wonder if they were laughing when someone came up with the idea of putting Genesis 24 on the homepage (“A man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and they will become one flesh.”).

I don’t hate these people, but I definitely hate what they are doing in two major ways. First, I hate that they are promoting illicit sexual relationships and extramarital affairs and, second, I hate that they are trying to pass BigChurch.com off as a Christian site.

“Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it. Tree and Its Fruit. Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves. By their fruit you will recognize them. Do people pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles?” (Matthew 7:13-16)
