The operator of one of the most visible Christian dating sites on the Web got an email from someone who met a man on another Christian dating site. Seems the man was in Nigeria "for missions" (Do you smell a rat here?) and his hotel didn't take traveler's checks. (Here it comes...) This lady sent him $4000 to help him out, and now she wants to sue the Christian dating site on which she met the scammer. Her attorney says she can sue for "damages and mental anguish."
Give me a break! Who doesn't know this is a scam? No Website operator can protect their customers from their own ignorance and bad choices. What's next?
"My boyfriend just broke up with me, and my attorney says I can sue you for damages and mental anguish because we met on your dating site."
Why can't people take responsibility for their own mistakes and bad choices? Why do the rest of us have to pay for their ignorance and mistakes? Don't get me wrong; I feel bad for this woman, but does she live in a hole where there is no news? These scams have been in the news for YEARS. I just don't understand the mentality of blaming others for your own mistakes. That's a real problem in this country, and it explains why there are so many frivolous lawsuits. Some people see this as an opportunity to "get paid" and the attorneys see it as an opportuntity to exploit someone for their own gain. Stop the insanity!
